Propagating is a way to get brand new plants from the plants you already own. It’s a very simple process and should leave you having to spend less money on buying new herbs every time you run out. Before you begin make sure you have the following: Rich soil, scissors, a jar, a pot, and a thyme plant.
- Cut a few stems of your thyme plant off. About 5 inches or 13 centimetres.
- Remove the leaves from the very bottom of the stem to avoid rotting once submerged.
- Put the stems in water. They should not be placed in direct sunlight and the water should be changed once a day.
- Once the roots grow to at least one inch, the stem can then be moved into a pot with soil
If you do not wish to replant the thyme, they can be moved into a bigger jar to continue their growth in the water. These can be used with many different herbs in the house as well.
